Q55 Exam A:
You configure a full server backup on a server as shown in the exhibit. You need to ensure that a full server backup runs each day at 23:45 and that a custom script runs when the backup completes. Which tool should you use?

I THINK the answer to this is "Windows Server Backup" and not "Task Scheduler".

From my reading at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc742492.aspx
"Specify Backup Time: Specify whether you want to run backups just once a day or more than once a day.

If you want to create a schedule for backups, but need to run backups at different times on different days, you can use Task Scheduler and the Wbadmin start backup command to run a series of tasks to create backups. "

The question does not mention changing backup for different days or anything like that, so the standard Server Backup Snap-In so be ok here.

Q44 Eaxm A:

Answer is "Modify the Products and Classifications settings."

You can specify the Microsoft software products for which you want to manage updates, and you can filter updates by update classifications.

Q34 Eaxm A

Your company has a main office and two branch offices that are connected by WAN links. The main office runs the DNS Server service on three domain controllers. The zone for your domain is configured as an Active Directory-integrated zone. Each branch office has a single member server that hosts a secondary zone for the domain. The DNS servers in the branch offices use the main office DNS server as the DNS Master server for the zone. You need to minimize DNS zone transfer traffic over the WAN links. What should you do?

Answer should be "Decrease the Refresh Interval setting in the Start of Authority (SOA) record for the zone."

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc783315(v=ws.10).aspx

You can use the following procedure to change the following intervals for a Domain Name System (DNS) zone:
Refresh interval. Used to determine how often other DNS servers that load and host the zone must attempt to renew the zone.

Retry interval. Used to determine how often other DNS servers that load and host the zone are to retry a request for update of the zone each time that the refresh interval occurs.

Expire interval. Used by other DNS servers that are configured to load and host the zone to determine when zone data expires if it is not renewed.

The default values for each interval are as follows:
Refresh interval: 15 minutes.
Retry interval: 10 minutes.
Expire interval: one day.

To adjust the refresh, retry, or expire interval for a zone using the Windows interface
Open the DNS snap-in.
In the console tree, right-click the applicable zone, and then click Properties.
On the General tab, verify that the zone type is either Primary or Active Directory-Integrated.
Click the Start of Authority (SOA) tab.
In Refresh interval, Retry interval, or Expires after, click a time period in minutes, hours, or days, and type a number in the text box.
Click OK to save the adjusted interval.

Question 30 Eaxm A
Your network contains a server named Server1 that runs Windows Server 2008 R2. Server1 has the Network_Policy Server (NPS) role installed. You need to ensure that the NPS log files on Server1 contain information of client connections. What should you do?

Answer is not to enable a DTS complaint file. Read the following on DTS:

ODBC and IAS legacy file types contain a subset of the information that NPS sends to its SQL Server database. The DTS Compliant file type's XML format is identical to the XML format that NPS uses to import data into its SQL Server database. Therefore, the DTS Compliant file format provides a more efficient and complete transfer of data into the standard SQL Server database for NPS. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee663944(v=ws.10).aspx)

Sounds like DTS is used for transferring data to SQL

Enable the Accounting requests settings seems like a better answer here.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc735376(v=ws.10).aspx
"Applies To: Windows Server 2008
Network Policy Server (NPS) accounting is the logging of user authentication and accounting requests to a local file or a SQL Server database."

Q24 Reads:
Your company has a single Active Directory forest that has six domains. All DNS servers in the forest run Windows Server 2008 R2. You need to ensure that all public DNS queries are channeled through a single-caching-only DNS server. Which two actions should you perform?

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc302677.aspx states the following regarding root hints: "In the DNS server's Properties dialog box, click the Root Hints tab. The entries in the Name servers list are for Internet root name servers that the caching-only DNS server uses to resolve Internet host names. Without this list of root DNS servers, the caching-only DNS server will not be able to resolve the names of machines located on the Internet."

Also see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc794772(v=ws.10).aspx.

"Verify that server root hints are configured or updated correctly. For more information, see Managing Root Hints."

"Disable the root hints" cannot be the right answer.
"Enable BIND secondaries" doesn't work her either.

GlobalNames host record seems to be a better fit.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731744.aspx

Consider deploying a GlobalNames zone if:
Your need for single-label name resolution is limited to important servers or Web sites that can be statically registered in DNS. (Typically, these names are also configured statically and globally in the WINS database.) Host names cannot be registered in the GlobalNames zone by dynamic updates.

I am just trying to clean this up a bit. Not only for the sake of studying, but to upload a copy of the researched answers from this dump.

@Allen Visser, some of your corrections do not match up with my dump. Could you clarify again?

Anyone knows why the answer for the question below is F) the RADIUS Authentication authentication provider?
Shouldn't be A) connection request policies?

Your network contains an Active Directory domain. The domain contains several VPN servers that have the Routing and Remote Access service (RRAS) role service installed. You need to configure all of the VPN servers to use the same network policies. The solution must ensure that any changes to the network policies automatically apply to all of the VPN servers.
What should you configure on the VPN servers?

Any ideas?

Exam A, Q73 "most up to date records for the zone"
Ive finally found the answer to this question as per http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc723556.aspx.
The zone database files are the zones' permanent storage location, holding all the zones' resource records. If you use DNS Manager to make a change to a zone, the copy of the zone in the name server's memory is changed, and a flag is set to update that zone's database file. The name server updates the zone database file when it exits, unless you tell it to update it sooner. The command DNS --> Update Server Data Files causes the name server to update the zone database files of all zones it's a primary for, regardless of whether or not they've been modified. To avoid losing data, we recommend using DNS --> Update Server Data Files after any changes-use it like you use the Save command in other applications.
Thus, the answer is "Update Server Data Files"
Sorry, this was eating away at me.

#Zen
One question - talks about blocking traffic. Not any specific traffic but presumable ALL / ANY traffic. So pretend DNS1 is on subnet A and you dont want pc's on Subnet B chatting to you, then you setup the F/W scope and block off subnet B, hence, Firewall Scoping.

Q 99 - talks about DNS1 only responding to DNS specific traffic. So if you theoretically had DNS1 working as a DNS server and a File server - then using the windows firewall to block off this subnet "A" , would kill ALL traffic on subnet A, not just DNS. Thus denying all users from being able to browse their files. This Q asks ONLY to kill DNS traffic, so go to the DNS server > Interface and kill the DNS traffic, specifically.

Ok, so everybody has seen that ugly point and shoot IP Sec Monitor Console where it asks you to id the total number of encrypted bytes sent & received?
Well, here goes.
1. Encrypted bytes = ESP = quick mode.
(however, apparently quick mode cannot be select in the exam?????!)

So after tearing up the link below, I have found the following, which leads me to believe that perhaps "Statistics" must be selected.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc726060.aspx
based on the following comments:
"Confidential Bytes Sent" =
This is the total number of bytes sent using the ESP protocol.
"Confidential Bytes Received" =
This is the total number of bytes received using the ESP protocol.

Im starting to doubt the selection of "Sec Assoc" because as per the URL:
"By looking at the SAs for this computer, you can determine which computers have connections with this computer..." which is not what is being asked.
Email me on allen.visser@gmail.com for comments.

you need to know that this is Microsoft test, this is not always the "real world".
So according to microsoft the "interfaces from dns manager" this is the right question, just as written in technet:

1) user class
2) Interfaces from DNS Manager allows you to listen on that particular address but will not restrict other subnet. The only option is to create a Firewall rule to allow only local subnet and block other subnet. So I believe Firewall option is correct.

Need correct answers for,
1. Your network contains a DHCP server named DHCP1 that runs Windows Server 2008 R2. All client computers on the network obtain their network configurations from DHCP1.

You have a client computer named Client1 that runs Windows 7 Enterprise. You need to configure Client1 to use a different DNS server than the other client computers on the network.

What should you do?
Ans: Create a reservation/Define a user class

2.Your network contains a DNS server named DNS1 that runs Windows Server 2008 R2.

You need to ensure that DNS1 only responds to DNS queries from computers that are located in the same subnet.

What should you configure?

Ans:Interfaces from DNS Manager/Windows Firewall

3.Your network contains a domain-based Distributed File System (DFS) namespace named \contoso.comDFS1.

You have two servers named Server1 and Server2 that are configured as namespace servers for \contoso.comDFS1.

You need to verify that the DFS namespace replicates successfully between Server1 and Server2.

Which tool should you use?

Ans:Dfsdiag/Dfsrdiag

Dump is valid. Passed today with 880. Used this dump (about 140 questions) prior to exam, along with MrKhan's may9th dump.

Exam had about 10 questions out of 50 I had not seen before, 40 were from the dumps.

My exam was DHCP heavy with 4 or 5 questions on ports (DNS, SQL, etc). Only one "point and click" question, which was a major relief.

Happy, moving on to 70-643 now.

Empi - Exam A, Q73 "most up to date records for the zone"
Heres my OPINION after actually building a virtual enviroment with multiple DC's hosting multiple ADI fwd and reverse zones, stub zones and STD zones on each DC, cross referencing each other, in multiple sites.
Option D:
If I r/click on the stub zone (not the srv itself), I only get the options to "reload", "transfer from master" or "transfer new copy from master". Which would indicate OPTION D. (since the Q seems to be focused on stub zones, right?)
Option C:
Now, to confuse the issue regarding "Updating Server Data Files" - via DNS Mgr!!
According to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc786985(v=ws.10).aspx it says:
"For Active Directory-integrated zones, this procedure does not apply . To update Active Directory-integrated zones, see the command-line procedure below"
Does that mean that Option C is wrong since the option C expressly states via DNS Manager and not via Dnscmd ServerName /ZoneUpdateFromDs ZoneName? So, according to my interpretation, Option C is wrong.
And then there is Option A.
Which confuses the issue even more. Is the Q correctly worded here? What is the scope of the Q? Is the zone in 1 or multiple sites? Does Sites & Svces even come into play in this Q? Yes AD can be replicated, if across multiple sites. But if all the servers are in 1 site, is this an option? Especially since we are only updating 1 stub zone? Seems excessive?
What do you think?

Passed today using pretty much only this exam (a teeny tiny bit the old bruce and the nobuhiro).
Passed with 884.

Almost all questions were from this dump. I think I saw 3 or 4 completely new questions. Some questions were slightly modified/differently worded but the dump still applies.

What about Exam A, Q73.
Its telling that this is a AD integrated Stub zone and need to get the most update records, This are DNS records right? So answer A must be wrong? Its must be C i think

Exam B, Q47 is incorrect. "You need to ensure that all DNS repl traffic . is encrypted".
Option B - only changing srv1 to ADI wont encrypt traffic while srv2 is still 2ndry zone.
I think the correct answer is :
Option C - Create CSR - as this will encrypt and authenticate all traffic.

what is the correct answer for this one , been struggling to get correct answer between b and d

Your network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com. Contoso.com contains two servers named Server1 and Server2 that run Windows Server 2008 R2. DirectAccess is deployed on Server2. You need to configure Server1 as a network location server (NLS). Which Web Server (IIS) role service should you install on Server1?

A. Request Filtering
B. IIS Client Certificate Mapping Authentication
C. URL Authorization
D. IP and Domain Restrictions

Exam A, Q59 "you need to log every attempt to connect.on a restricted port"
Can somebody please verify / rebut my opinion here.
Option C: is wrong. Logging cannot be set on inbound f/w rules.
Option B: is correct. Logging can only be configured at Profile level
WFwAS > Props > select a profile > Logging > Customize.

Lo4th - my greatest apologies. I must have been smoking some strong stuff and reading the wrong dump.
Anyway.I have a dispute regarding Exam A, Q 36 - "You need to config Client1 to use a different DNS server."
I was wondering - Option D - A user class would be more for config of "a set of clients id as sharing a common need for similar DHCP options configs" (p276 of MS 2nd ed SG).
However the scope of this Q refers to only 1 pc. Therefore wouldnt it be prudent to merely setup a reservation of this 1 client and then manually config the DNS settings?
Let me know what you think?

Next one :) Exam B, Q62

Correct Answer is B not A,

/detectnow Run a detection cycle (Because comp. 1 is not in any group)
/r /ReportNow Sends all queued reporting events to the server asynchronously. (this one is to check new updates)

Correct me if i'm worng :)

Your network contains an Active Directory domain. The domain contains a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server named Server1. A Group Policy object (GPO) named GPO1 configures all computers in the domain to use Server1 for Windows Update. You add a new Windows 7 computer named Computer1 to the domain. From the Update Services console, you discover that Computer1 is not listed as a member of any computer groups.
You verify that GPO1 is applied to Computer1. You need to ensure that Computer1 is available in the Update Services console. What should you do?

A. On Computer1, run wuauclt.exe /detectnow.
B. On Computer1, run wuauclt.exe /reportnow.
C. On Server1, run wsusutil.exe reset.
D. On Server1, run wsusutil.exe listinactiveapprovals.

Exam B, Q47

Answer is B is correct, Take Disk 2 Offline

I found this, "Section Important"

If you are using a virtual hard disk to store backups and if the virtual hard disk is on a physical disk that contains system volumes or critical volumes, there may be limitations to what you can recover. In addition, virtual volume files will be excluded from the backup if the virtual volumes are online. Hey allen the questions you said are wrong do not match my vce.

Exam A Q77 : Your network contains a single Active Directory domain. All servers run Windows Server 2008 R2. You have an IPv6-only infrastructure that has multiple subnets. You deploy a new server named Server1. You need to ensure that Server1 can communicate with the client computers in all of the internal subnets. The solution must use an address that is reserved for internal networks. Which address should you assign?

and

Q33 is :
Your network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com. All domain controllers run Windows Server 2008 R2 and are configured as DNS servers. All client computers run Windows 7. You create a new zone named secure.contoso.com and configure the zone to use DNSSEC. You need to ensure that all client computers verify whether the name and address information of secure.contoso.com is validated by the DNS servers. What should you configure from Group Policy?

Your answers must be for different questions.

Hi,

I started learning from Bruce 349q dump few weeks ago. I'm going to the exam probably next weak. Is this dump Bruce.373q already updated about new questions, which were mentioned by other users, eventually are there corrected any mistakes in this new dump from Bruce. I would like to learn only from one dump if it is possible.

Thanks for the answer.

Exam A, Q 33 - Option cannot be Option C, as you cannot setup logging at inbound/ outbound rules level.
Logging can only be done at a profile level.
Thus, being on a domain, Option B must be correct.
