Hello, I have been watching TrainSignal videos to get an idea of the Microsoft test since I'm kind of new to this. Anyways, I was wondering which of the exams in the dump should I closely look at to prepare for the test? There is just so many questions to remember.

@Donald Duodu you may want to look at the MSKiller exam in the dump I found most of the questions on the test there make sure you read them carefully the answers will be the same but the questions are in a different format. Like for example in the dump there are drag and drops but on the test the question is in a multiple choice format instead but the answer is the same

I am taking the exam tomorrow. I have done some self study. I have gone through this dump and still going through it. With about 30% of questions having significant changes gives a bit of a scare. Anyone with updated dumps or excess to some new questions. The more, the better.

Passed today in Sydney Australia with 920 - About 5 new questions 60% of questions from this dump,the other 30% of questions from this dump but changed in some significant ways, not just word changes.Thankfully none of the "case" type questions I got seemed to have changed. Dump still very helpful know your stuff and you'll be fine.

@Richard Best way to study for the exam is to revise the 8 sections Networking, Hardware, and Backup and Recovery etc, as each question and answer will link to other questions and give you a better understanding of the correct procedure.

"a cliant is trying to resolve a problem on their portable computer running windows enterprise what should they request from an administrator to resolve the problem" a) Remote Desktop. b) Remote Assistance. c) Certificate. d) Secure Connection. The dump is still valid in the UK the answers were in different orders and some were worded slightly different.
@Richard do all 404 questions break then into their 8 sections thats the way you are tested on the actual exam.

@ Mario
Don't read facts in the questions, that aren't there. There's no hint, that a crash has happened and that a crash dump has been created.
So if you want to get space to extend Volume C, the only way is to delete Volume D. Remember, they are partitions of one and the same harddisk.

@ Nativ
I used this numbers for crosschecking different dumps.
You can use them, at least the first group of digits, as a reference to the questions, if you want to discuss them.
But you can also use the exam name and one of its numbers, f.e. Buzz Q174 which corresponds 10184 20143.

@anonymous - I used it after reading the self learning kit from MS Press. I also did the Professor Messer vids on Youtube. I was pretty confident, just wanted to have something that would be close to the actual exam.

Gill's test is really good. I started scoring in the 80's then into the 90's-95's. At that point, I felt like I was ready to take it.

I used Gill's exam for 3 weeks and I would do 80 random questions almost daily. I'm a Jr. Sys Admin at my job, so I don't have a whole lot of time to do it twice a day like I did for my CompTia certs.

Gill's test are great, but maybe I was too unsettled to get a better score.who knows. Like I said, the test questions felt very familiar, I just don't know what went so weird that netted me such a low score.

Yesterday I scored 680. I only studied the MS Press book which isnt the greatest. The questions I studied were not what I went over. I know there was this question Upgrading from XP to 7 and you have to place five parts in order. Advisory, Scan/Load, Install, and some other part. I probably got the order wrong. I was deficient in configuring backup and recovery options, and config access resources to resources. I felt prepared studying a week worth of material. I am only able to study the certifications when I am not in school. The week before I studied for this exam I had finals. I hope these test simulations help. I am rescheduling next week.

@norman

I remembered the question as being similar to that but it was
A company have a dual boot configuration of windows vista and windows 7, the company decide that they no longer want users prompted to choose an OS on dual boot, The computer boots windows 7 by default.
What should you do?
A. from vista open command prompt type bcdedit /delete {current}
B. from vista open command prompt type bcdedit /delete {default}
c. FORGET :(
D. from windows 7 type bcdedit /delete {default]
E. from windows 7 type bcdedit /current {set}
C. from windows 7 type bcdedit /defualt {default}
I can't remember the exact question because I took it a few days ago.

Another question referenced Windows Firewall where it showed you a picture of enabling windows firewall for either the public or private network and the question was worded as you needing to comply with your company security policy and having windows wirewall enabled but also informing the user of when a program was trying to access your computer. IE enabling your pop up so that way the user would see the message. So you could either choose turn on windows firewall for the public network or turn it on for the private network and you could check the boxes next to block and notify for both profiles.

I didn't bother trying to remember the questions because 45 of them were from Gills dump. Gill you did a great job on putting this together and hopefully the 70-686/685 are similar as i'm just going to study the questions from your dump and go take the test

Passed today with 900. There was one exhibit question which I did not know. You saw the properties page of a VPN connection, in the security tab. The question stated you had to setup a vpn connection to a server for seven client computers with W7 enterprise. The RAS server was able to verify your identity and users should be able to logon without typing a user name or password. Which authentication method would you use?
In the dropdown list of the uthentication you had the following choices:
- 2 Cisco choices EAP-Fast and PEAP ( I thought )
- All 3 Microsoft choices like PEAP, ms-chap v2 and smartcard.

I chose smartcard but as I said I am not sure.

For the question with Eric and Gillbeast about the backup question. It is "C"
I get this question and I had a 100% score in the backup section.

Open windows explorer
Open the log file propperties and select the previous version
Restore the log file from the recent recovery file.

Windows XP is the last version of Windows that uses boot.ini. Since Windows Vista you use bcdedit to set the default boot installation.

The Correct answer is C.

Your quotation: "*****System image backups will be disabled if the destination volume does not have sufficient disk space.************** "

Yes, and that's why the scenario in the question says:
"After two hours, the backup task stops, indicating that no free space is available on the USB drive."

Please, stop quoting those labsim testouts. They don't help to answer the question.

  • Jun 08, 2013

@ Gill Beast

I'm sorry but you're incorrect about the answer. See below my notes being copied from labsim testout for Windows 7. Furthermore about the question that you have to focus on is the fact that you just did a re-partition to the hard drive and if you exclude the system image that is great, but you have no file system on the usb drive to back up your data too.

System image backups can only be saved to NTFS-formatted volumes. System image backups will be disabled if the destination volume is not formatted with NTFS.
You cannot save a system image backup to an optical or USB flash drive.
File backups can be saved to FAT32- or NTFS-formatted volumes.
The Backup and Restore console does not store system image backups in any other file format, such as ISO, WIM, or BAK.
You cannot schedule a system image backup using the Backup and Restore console, but you can include a system image backup in a regular backup schedule created within the Backup and Restore console.
System image backups included with scheduled backups only include critical (system) volumes.
While you can back up additional volumes, you cannot include those volumes in the system image backup.
**********System image backups will be disabled if the destination volume does not have sufficient disk space.**************
To schedule system image backups, create a task in Task Scheduler to run the wbadmin command. For example, the following command backs up the C: volume to the destination H: volume:

I think the best thing here is to assume what the default settings means here. Letter C is correct if what the question means for the default settings is that the windows backup is running for the first time. I also go for C this time since Microsoft questions are always assumes the default one.

@ Formyvoip

Your description, how Windows 7 Backup behaves, is correct. But what happens?

Windows 7 is used with default settings, that means data files are backed up and a system image is created.

Assumed, that those 400 GB of drive space used by Windows and document libraries are divided in 300 GB for documents to be saved and 100 GB for Windows and stuff that is not saved.
What happens?

Step 1
Windows 7 Backup backs up 300 GB of documents.

Step 2
Windows 7 Backup tries to creates a system image of 400 GB, detects that there isn't enough space to do so and stops the task with the corresponding indication.

300 GB + 400 GB = 700 GB. Too much for that 500-GB external drive.

Assumed, 60 GB for documents and 340 GB for Windows.
60 GB + 400 GB = 460 GB. Enough space on that 500-GB external drive.
But 340 GB for Windows? Is that realistic?

So what about the answers?
Answer A. NTFS file compression is not recommended in this place.
So the only answer is C. Exclude the system image from the backup.

  • Jun 08, 2013
  • Stef

I thought the answer was either between A and C. It says a 500gb external usb drive. While I do not actively look up the size of usb sticks, a 500 gb one seems awfully high which is why I would choose A for the answer. If they do in fact mean a usb stick and not a usb external HDD then C would be the correct answer

  • Jun 07, 2013

@Gill Beast
@Aaron Yeboah

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the answer is Letter A. Please note the following if you choose the default settings for backup.

1. Only local files in libraries are included in the backup
2. Windows will still not save the system image if your backup drive has not enough space. Including the system image is still based on your HD space and it is an automated process. Also system image will only be included if the drive to where you are saving the backup is NTFS formatted.

The question you have is a tricky one since they didnt mentioned anything about the hard drive file system even after reformatting.

Just my observation. Thanks.

To create a system image of a drive, it must be formatted to use the NTFS file system. If you save the system image on a hard drive or USB flash drive, it must be formatted to use the NTFS file system. For more information about NTFS, see Convert a hard disk or partition to NTFS format.

You use a portable computer that has windows 7 ultimate installed. The computer has a single 1-terabyte local drive C. 400GB of the drive space is used by windows and your documents libraries.
You configure a backup task by using default settings to back up data to an empty 500-GB external USB drive. After two hours, the backup task stops, indicating that no free space is available on the USB drive.
You reformat a partition on the USB drive. What should you do next?

A. Enable the NTFS file system compression on the USB drive.
B. Enable the NTFS file system compression on drive C.
C. Exclude the system image from the backup.
D. Exclude folders located on remote computers from your libraries.

Don't rely on any provider, that does't offer a demo. And don't rely on their last updated dates. And don't rely on their money back warranty.
If you compare for example Actual Tests and Actual Actual-Braindumps, you'll see that they have the same amount of questions, only differenced by the update date. Coincidence?
Actual Test is one of the big players being in the market since very long, but they haven't updated 680 since January 2013. And they stay to that fact.
But other new upcoming providers?
Assume that those dump providers copy from each other and that they offer the same stuff under different names and different prices.
And above: the Microsoft question pool is always augmented by new questions, that is, it grows.
It is supposed to actually have an amount of 300 questions or more. And that means that a question pool of 145, that Actual-Braindumps offers, is very too little.
The only strategy to succeed at the moment - regardless of new questions appeared or not (see the comment of Neb above, who talks about only little new questions) - is:
follow my strategy shown below until a real new dump is published.
Once again, good luck Yessica.

@Copernicus i felt like microsoft did a different approach with the 685 test and seemed like they actually did what a sys admin would do and not a book answer. u could read the question and pick the best answer without needing a dump since it was actually based off real scenarios and real answers . i just don't like that the 680 they answered with ways i would never do something because i know it doesnt actually work that way or there are better ways to do it from experience.

So true
REcommended strategy to get through the exam by @Gill Beast is:

1. Know the stuff
2. Learn - a-l-l - the questions.
3. To make sure, that you are familiar with the stuff, learn them by sections that is by topics. In the VCE Manager, you can choose to take questions from selected sections only.
3. Use the randomize questions and the randmize answers features in the VCE Manager to get used to the fact, that in the exam questions and answers show up in a different order.
4. Be aware that little rewording in the questions and answers occurs.

@ben Bigsby wow seriously? Obviously u are not reading my comments because nothing was directed toward him or said anything bad at all. i simply warned other people that the questions have in fact changed from what is here and that this alone will not pass you if you take it here as u can see from several other users reporting the same thing, I have had 10-15 questions that are not on here . not written differently but all together not even close to what is here and completley new because the test has changed. and actually im not a "brain dump" user but have been working and doing this job for over ten years which is why certs are a joke to me. the way microsoft does things is not how its actually done. if u do this test from a real sys admin approach u will fail like i did because its not how "microsoft" does it!! get ur facts straight!

@GillBeast - Apologies for the late comments but i have used your dump over and over again within 4 days and I passed! - over 800

All the credit to your team! - THANK YOU

everyone you should have some knowledge because the questions are shuffled along with the answers. Know / Understand your answers as well as the questions and this way you will be guaranteed to pass.

New questions i remember is the DHCP drag and drop

Good Luck people!!

@Jessica,. I have been monitoring your comments for quite a while now. You are the reason "Brain dump" users receive a bad name. I have had 15 different people pass the 70-680 exam using this VCE alone in the past 4 weeks. Failing the exam on three different occasions and accusing Gil_Beast to have outdated work is not cool man smh. just smh

Sorry, but only with this PDFs new VCEs are possible.
Good luck to you both.

My recommended strategy to get through the exam is:

Some Hillbilly pretended to have ameliorated my dump by introducing categories and redesigning all Select & Place questions. Both is not true. Categories have already been implemented in form of sections and to change the colors of Select & Place questions from Blue/Grey to Grey/Yellow is not really an improvement.
Instead he succeed to reintegrate duplicates and wrong answers into his concoction.

@Gill other your suggest link in explanation:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/aviraj/archive/2009/03/30/dual-boot-windows-7-with-existing-windows-vista.aspx

Step 7: Now, pop in your Windows 7 DVD and boot the computer from DVD. At the time of installation select ‘Custom Installation.' Select the newly created partition to install Windows 7.

When you're ready, and have made sure you have a good backup of your data (just in case), SYMPLY BOOT TO YOUR WINDOWS 7 beta DVD. When prompted, select your new, blank partition as the destination for your Windows 7 beta installation. Windows Setup will automatically DETECT your existing Windows Vista installation and create a boot menu that will allow you to select which OS you want to boot when starting the system. You can continue to use your production Windows Vista installation without having to migrate any data and still take the Windows 7 beta for a spin!

DON'T Lunch a WINDOWS 7 installation from within WINDOWS VISTA by using SETUP.EXE.
