Pass Your CompTIA 220-801 Exam Easy!

Passed my 801 and I would agree with Neo. This dump is becoming much less relevant but still useful if used as a learning tool rather than solely relying on it. The 802 is still very relevant, though. At least 60-70% were exactly the same. Sims are as mentioned by others comments. Good luck everyone and big thanks to Cristiano.

Just took the 801 and passed. I would say that this dump is getting less valid. Only about 30% to 40% of the questions are still word for word. The rest have been rearranged and worded differently. There a quite a bit of new questions. The SIMS that I received were exactly as King Agar listed. I used the book and professor Messer A+ you tube videos to prep. This dump is still a very useful tool and I would definitely use it to prepare, but it does not ensure a pass if you only know the answers to these questions. See you at the 802 forums.

You need to build a Virtual Server running Win 2008 with 10 users, a CAD PC, and AV editing machine. This Sim has a lot of options/parts and this is where you can do a lot of mistakes, because there is no process of elimination

Sim2:
Three columns, given a Virtual PC, Thick Client and Gaming PC, process of elimination, I suggest you start with a gaming pc as suggested by the other candidates

Sim 3
Complete the motherboard layout - RAM slots, 24pin ATX Main power, Fdd, IDE connector, SATA connector, front panel connector, CMOS battery, PCIe16x (Longest), PCI expansion port, PCIe 4x (yellow) and PCIe 1x (smallest one), Front USB connector (blue), CPU socket, CPU
fan power, and CPU additional 4pin power

Sim 4
The connector type matchup: VGA, DVI, HDMI, then s-video.

Sim 5
Bluetooth =100 m
Infrared <100 m
Satellite >100km

Sim6
Given two motherboard layout, Gaming PC vs Server, given 10 options and you need to match their characteristics

Sim 7
Soho - the soho interface setup has 3 tabs that you can click on, you need to setup the router to
broadcast to Library and change the admin password to Secure$1. It has
other network nearby and their SSID and Channel, you need to put the SSID given, disable the Mac filter address and also change the channel. The router has a default channel of one of the nearby houses; I used the channel as 1.

Sim 8
Soho - all the information is given, 2 IP Addresses, 2 Mac addresses, they are for phone and the laptop, SSID is given, don't forget to change the channel again, you need to change your encryption level from WEP to WPA so that you can be able to put the security password, check all the tabs before you save.

Passed with 7xx in November. There were a couple of questions from this dump on the exam but there were other new questions as well but they were easy. There were a few simulation questions. my advice is to skip the simulations to begin with and just go onto the normal questions first, then come back to the simulations because you may spend more time than needed on the simulations and then have only a short amount of time to quickly answer the normal questions or you may run out of time altogether. This dump still helped me though.

Passed today with this dump (800), I would say 90% of these question were on my test. The sims discussed below were on the test.

I took the 801 exam and failed yesterday. That same day I found this and went over every single question overnight and the next morning took the exam again, and passed with a 750+ and it only took me like 30 minutes to do the test the second time.

Also, reading the comment @viresh left below was very helpful for the first few simulations.

Not only are all the questions on this file, the A, B, C, D choices are all in the same order. So if you are good at memorizing things in order you'll have no problem passing this test

Just took my test to day and passed studying for a week, WHAT GOES WHERE ON THE MOTHERBOARD, and HOW TO BUILD DIFFERENT PCs.

Just passed with a 802 not great, but I passed. Here is my 2 cents Lee is absolutely correct regarding the sims and it only being 72 questions. Here is the sad news. I only had maybe 8-9 questions that were from this dump. The rest were very weird and goofy. I was shocked, they must have radically changed it recently. If you think studying only this dump will get you a PASS you might as well be prepared to retake it.

@ Tommy21 - The I think one of the sim was in this dump, the connector type, from VGA to DVI to HDMI then S-Video. The building of PC sim HTPC, Gaming PC and another Thin Net PC. someone posted the earlier comment, its WRONG - because the Thin PC and HTPC were intel Mainboard requried Intel CPU and the gaming PC on the sim was listed as AM2/3 so it has to be AMD CPU. Another Sim was to drag components for 2 PC, a gaming PC and a Home Server (it shows a Full ATX tower case with areas to drop parts into. The last build PC sim was a Virtual server for Win2008, a CAD PC and AV/Editing PC. It has a lot of components, not all will be used, like SODDIMS RAM, and a bunch of HDD options.
2 of the sims were setting up a wireless network, make sure you check all the tabs in the sims, cuz you will need to put the password for the router, and input mac address, SSID, make sure it broadcast. If you need help, you can email me leetruong@gmail.com

I take mine tomorrow around lunch any last minute advice?. I'm confused some are saying this dump is 100% on target and others have said not as much. I have done the Skillport online training, Exam Cram cover to Cover and Professor Messer vids. I'm a Sql developer who also has to do IT on the side. Getting nervous. When people say "sims" is it just matching with names and pictures or is it putting steps in the correct order?

Yup.only 72 questions and like 8 sims at the beginning. Previous comments regarding sims were correct. I passed with 822.but all those sims at the beginning gave me a slow start. I still found this dump extremely helpful there was a lot of new stuff. Wished I had waited till Tuesday to write it after reading posts today. Cheers.

I just passed 801 today, had only 72 questions. A lot of Sims at the start, but majority of the questions were not in this dump. In a way it is, because its worded different. Had to setup wireless network sims a few times, put together 3 different PC twice, one was HTPC, Gaming, Thin net, other one was a Virtual Server Win2008 PC with 10 users access, CAD, and Audio/Video Editing (not all the parts are used). Anyhow, I did passed 861/900

i just passed this morning with 789, the test was not what i expected. the first 8 question where simulation question ranging from 2 soho, identify mobo, 3 build various pcs. the other question maybe 75-80% are from the dump. so i suggest you read and take other pratice test. 72 question

Dump still valid. Passed today 900/900. 7 questions weren't in the dump but read carefully & they are not that difficult. The sims that came up were all mentioned below & from the dump. For the gaming pc use Amd phenom 4core & use the i5 for the htpc. For soho read the instructions carefully, change to channel 1 & remember that you don't use all the info given. David it takes a day to memorize the questions, im writing mine today and hope it is still valid.

Always blows my mind when I see such old Dumps still being accurate, then I can go over to another exam and see like 5 new tests in the last month posted and have all 5 be totaly wrong.

So as of yesterday this is still valid, Anyone have an idea of how much longer it will remain valid?

Just passed 753. About half of the questions from the dump were on the exam. The rest had to do with printers, cleaning them etc. and lots of questions on the environment, static electricity, how it can damage RAM etc. Sims were SOHO, Identifying connectors, MOBO parts just like everyone has said in the forum

Just passed yesterday 850900 94% folks you need to know your stuff but the exams are close there are some new questions but this still helped a lot the performance questions are not all in this dump but don't know the awnsers then mabey u should rethink. taking the test but it is a great study helper going for my nest test in a few weeks have to study for it good luck to all this is not a garentee pass as you will fail if you don't get the performance questions they are worth 6-8% per question fail 3 and you fail the test and there are no partial marks on the performance questions so study and you will pass with flying colours like myself

This dump is still valid as of 10/31/2013 scored a 858/900 awesome. There are about maybe 10 questions that were reworded from this dump but the answers are the same reworded also. There are five sims to start the test off as mentioned previously. For prep i used this dump after reading Mike Myers All in One 8th Edition and Exam Cram Practice test also. The key to passing is prepping and OJT start taking your computer apart to gain more knowledge. Learn the processes now so your more prepared when you take the 802. Good luck and if you study it will be a breeze with your technical knowledge.

This dump is 95% valid passed with same Score as Mike :P 841/900. Even if you dont study this dump you can still pass cause all you need is common sense.The sims were exactly as mentioned in the comments and i nailed it. Bare in mind there will always be upto 9 questions that you wont see in the Christos dump so prepare well before you take the exam. Good luck!

On the exam, they will ask u to identify, main power connector, cmos battery, AGP slot, PCIe slots, SATA, connectors, IDE connectors, USB conn, CPU socket, floppy conn, memory slots, CPU power conn, fan conn, and i like 1 or 2 other components that i cant remember.
Another sim is to build a RAID with IDE drives, u get like 4 different drives, and 3 empty bays. U need to identify them first (IDE) for an ATX case, also they tell u to use a minimum of HDD, meaning DON'T use all bays. Important that u read RAID concepts.
3rd sim is really easy, just identify 4 different types of video connectors.
4th, built 3 different PCs, for this i recommend u to read VIRESH's comments.

As for the bay's simulation, put 2 of 7200 and leave the other bay empty; for building servers, you want to from gaming (most RAM,cooling fan, etc, HPTC (TV tuner, etc), then thick client (least RAM, win 7 pro, etc). The 2 simulations here are also on the exam. Good luck everyone! :)

@ anyone on this dump can you provide more details on configure HTPC, Gaming PC, and Thick Client also identifing the motherboard components is the the question focus on the major parts of the board? Any feedback would be appreciated.

As stated, there a few questions they throw in to throw you off, there are a few questions that were reworded. The sims were 99% on point as well. I don't understand why people say not to only use the sim. If you can remember the answers,then you'll ace this test. I mean it kinda makes sense because if you understand the acronyms then you won't get tripped up. LOVE THIS DUMP! I take the 802 in 4 or 5 weeks. See ya then

Passed w 875/900. Dump is still 90%+ valid. Highly recommended. Just took in Massachusetts. The 220-802 from Cristiano is just as legit, as I just passed that one earlier today w 821/900. I recommend taking them both on the same day between a morning and afternoon block. Take the entire A-E exams, make flash cards of each of the questions, memorize, and then take the entire A-E exam again. Then do A-E separately. It worked for me and if you have a good memory it will work for you too. The sims that I had:

1. HTPC, Thick, Gaming Client Configuration (Not in dump, you will have to find elsewhere)
2. Motherboard identification (Be aware of a board that has both IDE and SATA on it!)
3. Bluetooth, IR, Radio Frequency distance, use (In the dump!)

The only exception is a couple questions that got reworded so ready carefully! I can verify other claims as well that new questions were added that weren't on the dumps, but they are pretty easy if you don't rely solely on the dump to study. The simulations were the first thing on the test and it was the following:

I used this today (25-Oct-2013) got a 883! Most questions were exact! I did not have any access to SIMS, but study all the Slots and Componets on mother boards. Had to build a gaming pc, thicknet, and a HTPC. KNow which parts are used to build each. All in All This VCE got me a great score!

This dump is valid I took exam 10/23/2013 passed with 816,the Sims are exact,a few new questions.

It is still valid although I had 3-4 questions outside this dump but they could be on some older ones since I've done only those most recent ones (from August-October).

Just passed with 100 percent 900/900. Studied THIS dump only to pass. Did study questions parts a-d.

Sims were:
1. distance, type of use, for btooth, radio, etc.
2. MOBO parts.
3. configuring a wifi based on user wants/needs. (remember to not use router password as the wifi security key)
4. building a gaming/htcp/etc computer.

Most of the questions here were on the test. THANK YOU to everyone that helped make this dump possible !!!!!

I only studied Exam A, 30 minutes before going to the test, I realized that there were more exams to study B,C etc. So I looked fast through exam B because I mastered A. Did not get to finish B and still passed. Questions are word for word. Remember to take your time so It does not look suspicious and CompTIA starts changing the questions. Simulations know the different connections hdmi, dvi, vga etc. there is one you need to configure a router with information given. I enabled mac filtering. I believe you need to change the channel so as to not interfere with other houses. And pretty much previous comments here are accurate.Thank you very much

Just came back from my exam with a 900/900! Thanks a ton Cristiano! Dump is still -extremely- valid with only 4 questions featured that weren't on it. Got the exact sims mentioned from everyone else:

- Configure wireless network with given information (I took advice from another user and set the channel to 1).
- Match up parts for a HTPC, thick client and gaming PC (just set up the gaming PC first with the quad-core CPU, SSD, specialized cooling, etc. then it's very simple to distinguish between the HTPC and thick client)
- Ranges/uses for infrared, bluetooth and radio just like in the dump.
- Motherboard identification (know IDE vs. floppy, CPU power connectors and what a USB socket looks like)
- Identify video connectors (VGA, DVI, HDMI, S-Video, just like in the dump)

The other 4 questions aren't so bad except for one which is either hit or miss.
- There's a constant smudge near the center of every printed page from a laser printer, what needs to be replaced? Drum.
- Connecting departments in a company to one single network operations center to retain autonomy while still sharing the Internet connection. Done by using a bridge.
- How many unique IP addresses in a Class C? 254.
- What is the wire configuration in a 568B cable? (Just have to know it, very relieved that I remembered.)

Can anyone confirm the total number of questions on this dump? I have a full licensed version of Visual CertExam Manager and I only see 475. I plan on taking my 801 on the 26th and don't want to miss anything.

The color varies from motherboard to motherboard. First off, ALWAYS consult your motherboard manual if you have questions about a particular slot. If you can't, you can usually differentiate between PCI and PCI-e by the distance from the edge of the board (PCI is closer to the edge than PCI-e). Also the graphics card slot is much more likely to be PCI-E, so you can guess that every card at that distance is the same type. If it's clearly not PCI-e, then it's going to be AGP.

Just took the 801 exam today, this dump is pretty much word for word questions I got in the exam. 99% accurate.

Not at all Anon you'll find those in your 802 exam, 801 mostly consists of drag and drop questions.

are there any performance based questions on the 801 exam? like going through the cmd prompt and shutting down a task for example thanks.

I got back from Test, passed 808/900. I did not use the full version of this dump.
I used exam cram study for notes. Lots of practise test. Some of the questions are similar to bonus exam from the book. Do study on Wi-Fi configuration, mother parts, blue tooth, IR, radio etc. Be able to identify the types of connectors such vga, hdmi etc. difference between switch, router, hub. network topologies. parts need for htpc, thickclient, gamingpc.

Wrote today, got 800. This dump is world class!

Hello Everyone, I took the test today and there were 6 questions on it which were not in this Dump. Of those 6 questions 3 were Easy common sense (one was "You have dropped your laptop screen and now wireless is no longer working, why is this" and the answer is because the antenna is in the screen.) the other 3 were a bit trickier. 3 questions for me were re-worded oddly and stumped me a bit.

The Sims were exactly as talked about and in the dump.

Jusst scored 779 all from practicing with this exam question. This is a SURE pass with u want to pass. Now to hit the 802. I was jusst suprised by the diagrams bt I nailed them ,I think lol.

dump still valid sambos post is exactly correct, know the difference of pci slots 16x, 4, 1 for mobo configurations the others were building thick clients, HTPC and Gaming PC were very difficult, and also building a HTPC I don't think I got any of the sims 100% correct there were 3-4 of them. PASSED 850/900 on JK0-801. This is dump is 99% valid. Don't use this as your main study material. Use a guide and study this dump a few days before you take the test. The simulations reported in the comments are also VALID, I had the Motherboard parts (Link names to MOBO parts). Build a HTPC, Thick client and gaming computer (Watch the Computer Component Matching video on his site and use the SSD for the gaming computer). Building a PC with IDE HDD for data redundancy and maximum performance with a minimum amount of HDD, I used a and 7200RPm IDE RAID 5 but apparently that's not what Comptia was looking for, the next valid choice would a RAID 0 with two 7200RPM IDE HDD (If considering that the WHOLE computer IS the data redundancy solution and NOT the RAID array itself). Take your time during the test to keep this dump alive, Comptia changes the questions if people are passing the test in a short amount of time.

Just passed the exam with 833 out of 900. The dump is about 98% valid, which is great considering it's more than a month old! Memorize all the questions and you'll pass easy!. New questions were pretty simple as well.
1) Simulation - identify and label all the parts of a motherboard.
2) Simulation - set up a wireless network, ensuring you meet all the client's criteria, i.e the type of encryption, network SSID and adding 2 hardware items using each MAC address.
3) Simulation - set up 3 computers using the hardware provided. A home theater, thick system and a gaming system.

Just passed on Friday with an 833/900, this is definitely still valid.

I just wanted to let you all know I just took 801 test, just got home and passed with a 892/900. For some reason I got 1 simulation wrong which was install, configure, and deploy a SOHO wireless/wired router using appropriate settings. I wonder how I got that wrong.. I plugged in all the correct information provided and everything.. anyway besides that I saw the majority of the questions from this dump on the test with the exception of a few new ones regarding documentation of policy and corporate implementations or something like that.

I used this dump in conjunction with professor messer, exam cram, and several other dumps such as Scottcha's, VernJ, and Nathans. I basically exhausted all mediums, being that I had the time to study so much. Will study for 802 now and schedule exam for next week when I feel confident!

hi Mary, as Karla said in order to get all the questions active you need to purchase a license and that is done by either clicking activation and purchase or by you getting back to the window where you download the vce software. Close to it there is a window that offers you to buy the software. Either way just go for the £19.99 as that should be enough to get through the exam. Once you make the payment, you will get an activation code by email though the email address submitted. Next you copy the code and get back to the software where you go through the activation and it would request for the code in a box where you just need to paste the code and validate it. You should be fine by then. Good luck

Valid exam. Didn't pass the 1st time you have to purchase the VCE extension in order to get all of the exams. The question on the exam were word for word so if you memorize the question & answers you will do fine.

This dump is very much valid I passed today with a 833/900 in San Diego , CA. Pay attention to the similuations use proper process of elimation and study this dump and you should be able to squeeze by with no problems. The only thing that through me off was the PCI x16 PCI x4 and PCI x 1 on the motherboard diagram.Hope my input helps someone.

A+ certified with a 800/900! This dump was about 80% valid. Make sure you study this and memorize the questions. If you watch the Professor messser's videos you'll do well. I didn't watch them as I didn't have the time and reviewed with short time. This simulations that I got were
1. Identify the components of a motherboard (study them all)
2. Build a Thick, Gaming and Home Theatre PC (know the specifications)
3. You have to build for maximum performance using IDE drives with 3 bays (you have 15000,10000,7200,5400 RPM's , and you can use them as many times as you want.

Every single question was identical, pretty much word for word from this and the other dumps.

The sims:

#1 Showed a picture of a motherboard and had you label nearly every single part on it (ie floppy connector, fan power, pci express x1 x4 x16, cpu socket cpu power etcc)

#2 Gave you a list of computer parts and had you build a thick client, htpc and a gaming pc.

#3 gave you a list of harddrives and wanted you to use what was "fastest and used the least drives" while being ide and having storage redundancy. Was confusing, probably should of done a raid 5 but I tried a raid 1, probably got it wrong.

Just took the exam few days ago (9/3). Passed 825/900. At least 90% of this dump is valid.

Passed today with a 799/900. There was not a single question on my exam that was not on this dump. Once again, not a single one. The sim questions are the same four everyone mentions. My test did not include the SOHO sim that people seem to be mentioning as of late. I might have gotten at most 5 regular multiple choice questions wrong. No more. Study this and scottchas dump and you should be okay. If you want to be safe you can study the dump I uploaded (vernj) as I am imagining that questions may vary between testing locations and the extra sim with 275 questions won't hurt. Use this dump in conjunction with your study materials and other practice tests and you should be okay. The reason I do not recommend only using this and scottcha's dumps alone is that I don't want to hear about people feeling mislead and are angry that they failed because they only studied this dump. As I mentioned earlier It would not shock me if different locations and times may have different questions. Make sure you keep that in mind. Thank you Cristiano and Scottcha.

But then I had already studied 200+ hours with Testout.com, along with studying ExamCram by David Prowse, Rapid Review by Darril Gibson, and all 19 hours of Prof. Messer's vids, and then taken dozens of other practice tests not from dumps; but I will say that this dump, Reaper's and Scotcha's latest dumps, are 100% valid and are word for word what you will see on the actual exam. However, please do yourself a favor and actually learn the concepts so you can not only decorate your resume' but also actually perform any job you might land with the A+ certification. Certifications based on memorized answers to exams are virtually worthless, and will not benefit you or any prospective employer in the long run. In other words, actually study and learn the information, and don't just memorize answers to the test. You'll be better off for it.

HI, all, the questions proposed by comptia are not all clear. For example the storage installation simulation: the question tell us to mount HDDs to have redudancy and max performance. So the correct answer is raid 5 with 3 disks.
But the correct answer is to mount 2 disk in raid 0 (no redundancy).
the second thing is that I never see in my life a IDE RAID on a desktop PC!

Just to answer the HD question. Ignore the SATA drives. The question says to use IDE ones. Also it says best performance so choose 2 7200 drives.

Took the test today, passed with a 8xx/900. Don't recall a single question from the test that wasn't from this dump, either word for word or very similar. Sims are the same as mentioned before. In regards to the RAID drive sim as mentioned below from 'JayJayFlash' from the David Prowse book "Exam Cram". His answer is to go with 3-7200 PATA drives (one in each bay), which I did. But I think this is incorrect. On my test results sheet, one of the questions marked as being incorrect was "Install and configure storage devices". I can't recall any other such related question on the test on this topic other than the RAID sim. So the correct answer for this might deserve some more discussion. I'm not sure the answer given in the book is the answer CompTIA is looking for on the test.

Otherwise I studied with book "Exam Cram" and used these dumps as a supplement. If you do well with the Exam Cram practice tests, the actual A+ exam will seem easy. I would not rely on these dumps as your only method of preparing for the test.

This is a very valid dump—passed today with 8xx/900. If you study all 475 questions and ElDude's file, you will have no issue on the exam. Yes, some are almost the same, and the vast majority are very close permutations, but remember, it's about the concepts, not learning the answers. Use these dumps as tool not as the sole study aid. The Sims seem to weighted very heavily—remarkably in fact—so take extra time in preparing for them.

Passed with a 799, I watched all Professor Messor 220-801 videos and took some of the practice exams from this dump I scored 84 on A, 86 on B, and 87 on exam C. Was very relivant only a few questions I had not seen. I messed up just a little on the motherboard scenario, I think I got the video cards or ram wrong when building a gaming and HTPC.
