HPE ATP - Hybrid Cloud is now a retired certification. HPE marked the credential and its HPE0-V25 Hybrid Cloud Solutions exam inactive on July 1, 2026. The page still has historical value because the certification captured a broad foundation across compute, storage, networking, GreenLake services, private cloud, management tools, architecture, and consumption models. But new candidates should not prepare as though HPE0-V25 remains the active route.
HPE’s 2026 learning program reorganizes the old Hybrid Cloud foundation into more focused role paths. Its current site highlights a new HPE ATP - Edge-to-cloud architect credential, a new HPE ATP - Compute solutions credential, and revised architect/integrator directions at higher levels. The HPE0-V27 Edge-to-Cloud Solutions exam remains an important current exam in that transition. The broader change is from one general hybrid-cloud label toward clearer role and technology pathways.
The retired certification validated foundational ability to understand HPE’s hybrid-cloud strategy and translate customer requirements into a suitable mix of products, services, and consumption models. It was not limited to one technology domain. Candidates needed awareness of compute, storage, networking, GreenLake, private cloud, management, and the architectural principles that connect those areas.
That breadth made the credential useful for early-career solution architects, implementation professionals, and technical presales roles. The candidate was expected to gather requirements, compare HPE options, recommend a design, explain business value, and support implementation planning. In other words, the certification connected technical components to a customer problem.
Hybrid cloud has become too broad to remain a single catch-all category. Organizations now treat private cloud, edge-to-cloud architecture, storage, compute, virtualization, AI, operations, and consumption models as related but distinct disciplines. HPE’s 2026 certification updates reflect that reality by creating new and revised paths with more specific role expectations.
Retirement therefore should not be read as the end of hybrid-cloud skills. It is a reorganization. The old ATP credential established a generalist foundation; the newer paths allow candidates to demonstrate more clearly whether they design edge-to-cloud solutions, specialize in compute or storage, or move into deeper architecture and integration roles.
HPE0-V27 validates the ability to translate business and technical requirements into a complete HPE solution design across GreenLake, storage, compute, and networking while considering consumption models and hosting locations. That scope makes it a natural successor direction for many former ATP Hybrid Cloud candidates.
The emphasis is on placement and integration. A workload may remain on premises for latency, data sovereignty, security, cost, or operational reasons. Another workload may benefit from public-cloud services. Some environments use consumption-based infrastructure to obtain cloud-like economics without moving every workload offsite. Edge-to-cloud architecture is about choosing deliberately among those options.
Traditional infrastructure planning often began with capital purchase, capacity estimates, and a multi-year refresh cycle. Consumption-based offerings introduce different questions: how quickly can capacity scale, how usage is measured, which services are managed, where data resides, and how financial models compare over time. HPE ATP Hybrid Cloud candidates were expected to understand those choices at a foundational level.
Those questions remain relevant in the new certification structure. A technically correct platform can still be the wrong recommendation if its operational or financial model does not fit the organization. Good solution design therefore includes business constraints as well as CPU, memory, network, and storage requirements.
Many organizations use “private cloud” as shorthand for virtual machines in an internal data center, but the cloud operating model is broader. It includes self-service, automation, standardized services, policy, metering, lifecycle management, and an experience that reduces the friction of infrastructure consumption.
Hybrid-cloud professionals should be able to distinguish a virtualized environment from a mature private-cloud platform. They should also understand how networking, identity, backup, observability, security, and governance affect the user experience. This systems perspective is one reason HPE’s newer certifications separate architecture and integration responsibilities more explicitly.
The old ATP Hybrid Cloud certification intentionally covered multiple infrastructure areas because hybrid solutions depend on them. Compute determines workload execution characteristics. Storage affects performance, protection, availability, and data placement. Networking connects services and failure domains. Management tools provide visibility and lifecycle control.
Professionals who want to deepen the compute side should recognize that the former ASE - Compute Solutions certification has also retired, with HPE now directing candidates toward newer compute architect and integrator paths. That parallel transition is important: HPE is updating the entire role model, not just renaming one exam.
Hybrid environments are difficult to operate when each location or platform has a separate view of health. Engineers need visibility across infrastructure, services, networks, and workloads. Hybrid Cloud Observability Network Monitoring is relevant because operational visibility is one of the practical requirements that makes a distributed architecture supportable.
Observability should support both incident response and planning. Telemetry can reveal performance bottlenecks, capacity trends, dependency failures, and unusual behavior. The architectural question is not simply whether metrics exist, but whether the right teams can use them to understand the service end to end.
Even though HPE0-V25 is inactive, its broad requirements remain a useful checklist for early-stage solution work. Can you gather requirements? Can you separate a business need from a preferred product? Can you explain the tradeoffs among hosting locations? Can you identify dependencies across compute, storage, and networking? Can you describe how the solution will be operated and supported?
Those questions are durable. They are also the bridge into more specialized HPE credentials. A generalist who understands the whole environment can then choose a deeper direction based on actual responsibilities rather than chasing a certification title that no longer exists.
Existing holders should describe the credential accurately as an HPE certification earned under the previous program. Retirement does not erase the work required to earn it. At the same time, professionals should avoid implying that HPE0-V25 is still the active exam or that the original certification remains open to new candidates.
For continuing development, identify which replacement path matches your role. Solution designers should examine edge-to-cloud architecture. Compute or storage specialists should follow those dedicated ATP directions. Practitioners who move into advanced design can progress toward HPE’s expert and ASE-level architecture credentials, including the Advanced HPE Edge-to-Cloud Solutions written exam where appropriate.
Do not study the retired HPE0-V25 blueprint as though the program froze in time. Use it to identify your baseline, then compare that knowledge with the objectives of the current path. Focus on newer HPE private-cloud offerings, GreenLake models, current management tools, updated compute and storage directions, and the architectural choices involved in distributed environments.
Hands-on practice should include requirement gathering as well as configuration. Take a workload and decide where it should run, what infrastructure it needs, how it will be protected, how users will access it, how it will be monitored, and how cost will be managed. That exercise captures the solution mindset behind both the legacy and current certifications.
HPE ATP - Hybrid Cloud should now be treated as a legacy foundation. It represents a stage in HPE’s certification history when broad hybrid-cloud solution skills were validated through HPE0-V25. The knowledge remains relevant, but the credential itself is no longer the current target.
For new candidates, the practical route is to use the old page for context, then move to HPE’s current edge-to-cloud, compute, or storage paths. That preserves historical accuracy while keeping certification planning aligned with the program HPE is actually operating now.
Compute specialization illustrates the new role split. The former ATP Hybrid Cloud path fed into broader specialist certifications such as the historical HPE0-S59 Compute Solutions exam. HPE has since retired the associated ASE Compute Solutions credential and separated advanced compute work into architect and integrator directions. The HPE7-S01 Advanced HPE Compute Architect written exam and HPE7-S02 Advanced HPE Compute Integrator Solutions written exam show how those two directions are now distinguished.
This change helps candidates make a more deliberate choice. Someone who enjoys gathering requirements and defending design tradeoffs may fit architecture. Someone who prefers deployment, integration, validation, and troubleshooting may fit an integrator route. The retired ATP credential provided broad exposure to both kinds of concern; the current structure asks candidates to become clearer about where their professional depth lies.
Migration planning is a hybrid-cloud skill too. Hybrid-cloud architecture is not only about the steady state. Moving a workload between hosting models requires dependency discovery, data-transfer planning, identity integration, testing, rollback, and a realistic cutover plan. Engineers should understand that migration risk often comes from hidden dependencies rather than the destination platform itself.
A useful study exercise is to take one existing on-premises service and plan three futures for it: remain on premises under a consumption model, move to a private-cloud platform, or integrate with a public-cloud service. Compare security, latency, operations, data movement, cost, and recovery for each option. That is the kind of tradeoff thinking the old ATP path introduced and the current edge-to-cloud direction continues.
