Cisco says that the maximum number of segments per network on a 10Base-T network is 5.

From Cisco: OSPF uses a reference bandwidth of 100 Mbps for cost calculation. The formula to calculate the cost is reference bandwidth divided by interface bandwidth. For example, in the case of Ethernet, it is 100 Mbps / 10 Mbps = 10.

the answer to your ospf question is , B bandwidth, that is correct. since Cost is not considered as a metric. Bandwidth is a metric value, Cost is not!

Tricky question

I think the answer to this question might be wrong:

Which of the following is the Metric used for OSPF?

A. Next Hop
B. Bandwidth
C. Latency
D. Cost

The answer given is B. Bandwidth but, I think it is supposed to be D. Cost because everywhere I look it says that the metric is the COST and the cost is based on bandwidth, reliability, round trip time.
One book says OSPF uses cost as the metric calculated, based on the bandwidth of the link.
The cost of a link is calculated by dividing the reference bandwidth (100 Mbps by default) by the interface bandwidth.
Which would you choose as the most correct answer?

@ Graystonia
The question is the maximum numbers of segments not the maximum numbers of nodes per segment..So what is the correct answer? Becouse the maximum number of nodes per segment in 10Base-T is 1024 but what is the maximum number of SEGMENTS? I think its 2
