The demand for Linux professionals is on the rise again! An overwhelming majority of IT hiring managers plan to hire Linux professionals in 2015, with sufficient plans to increase the salaries of their current Linux-focused employees, according to this TechRepublic article and other reputable industry sources.
Many hiring managers also admit that Linux openings are hard to fill, which boosts the prestige of these openings even more. So what’ up with this Linux fever, and should you consider Linux as your IT career focus for the near future?

The demand and popularity of Linux is now on the rise, mainly because of the rise in open cloud platforms, Linux-based technologies, and the innovative products they have powered. From tech startups to established companies, everyone needs to hire great Linux talent. Most openings target individuals with experience or knowledge of the open source OpenStack and CloudStack platforms – this is something to keep in mind. Most hiring managers and IT industry insiders expect this trend to continue for the next few years. In case you haven’t heard, Linux Professional Institute has just revamped its certification program. Among other changes, the exam formerly known as 117-102 and 102-350 (old), are now replaced with the new exam 102-400. That’s right: to become a Certified Linux Server Professional (LPIC-1), you now have to take this new exam: 102-400.
