Cisco adds Evolving Technologies Section to its Certification Programs

cisco evolving technologies section, certification programs, specialist certificationRecently Cisco has announced the release of a new framework to meet business needs and keep up with technology updates. This framework will focus on adding new “Evolving Technologies” part to Cisco Expert level Certification programs like CCIE and CCDE. The new section will be added to all written certification exams, while lab exams will not be changed. Evolving technologies section will include hot topics like iOT, Cloud and Network Programmability and it will cover 10% of overall exam curriculum, while remaining 90% will be combined from the core technologies queries.

The new “Evolving Technologies” exam section will include three parts and five tasks in total and it will be refreshed with new and emerging technologies every time they appear and accepted by the industry:

  1. Cloud – with two subdomain topics such as “Cloud deployment models” and “Cloud implementations and operations”.
  2. Network Programmability – will include two subdomains: “Functional elements of network programmability (SDN)” and “Virtualization and automation in network environments”.
  3. Internet of Things – with one subtopic called “Architectural framework and deployment considerations for Internet of Things (IoT)”.

New written exams for CCIE and CCDE programs with “Evolving Technologies” topic in them will become available starting from July 25th, 2016. Candidates will have to prepare for the updated credentials using recalibrated exam versions X.1 as you can see below:

If you are planning to take the Cisco Expert level exam before July 25th, you should continue to prepare for it based on the existing exam topics versions X.0. However when “Evolving Technologies” Section will be applied to the exams, their numbers, formats and duration will remain unchanged.

Firstly “Evolving Technologies” section will be added to CCIE Data Center v2.0 track while remaining expert-level programs will be updated with new modular and unified exam topics within their normal revision.

So you already can schedule your unified written exam starting from July 25th of 2016. All written Expert Level Cisco Exams are administered in Pearson VUE testing centers and you can schedule and pay for the upcoming exam on the official Pearson VUE website.

Written exams are two hours long and consist of 90-110 queries multiple-choice and simulation queries, the candidates are not allowed to use any reference materials while sitting for the exams.

New Exams for CompTIA A+ Certification being released in December

805On December 15th CompTIA has released two new exams for its CompTIA A+ certification track: CompTIA A+ 220-901 and 220-902. By implementing new exams within it’s A+ Credential CompTIA keeps up with the latest technology trends and verifies all the up-to-dated skills required for qualified IT Technical Support Professional.

The 900 A+ Series are designed for the industry professionals working within IT Technical Support and Operations. Both 220-901 and 220-902 Exams are mandatory in order to get certified and will replace previous CompTIA A+ 220-801 and CompTIA A+ 220-802 corresponding exams, when the old ones will be discontinued. As for now candidates can take both 800 and 900 Series Exams, but starting from 1st of July 2016 220-801 and 220-802 exams will be retired.

CompTIA A+ certification is one of the most demanded and popular credentials in IT Industry. It has already helped more than 1 million IT professionals from all over the world boost their career. To register for the exam simply visit their official website and purchase the exam voucher via the CompTIA Marketplace. Each exam costs 199$ and is 90 minutes long, containing maximum of 90 performance-based and multiple-choice questions. CompTIA A+ Certification remains valid for three years after the exams.

Passing scores for both old and new exams are as following:

–       220-801: 675 (on the 900 scale)

–       220-802: 700 (on the 900 scale)

–       220-901: 675 (on the 900 scale)

–       220-902: 700 (on the 900 scale)

Overall new CompTIA+ Exams are very similar to the old ones, and 75% of the exam objectives replicate the previous versions. The outdated technologies have been eliminated and the new ones added. Thus you will not have to prove your skills in Rambus, CRTs or Windows XP, while you will be asked to demonstrate your knowledge in Windows 8, Mac OS, Linux, and Windows Phone f.e..

The main difference in the new and old exams’ composition is that 900 Series is more autonomous than 800 exams. While for 220-802 exam you have been expected to know all the troubleshooting processes from both 220-801 and 220-802 exams, here in 220-901 and 220-902 exams troubleshooting domains are not interlinked. So now you don’t have to study more than one exam curriculum at the time, before starting studying for the next one.

 

CompTIA A+ Exams’ Objectives:

CompTIA A+ 220-801 & 220-802 evaluate candidates’ fundamental technology skills such as  installing, configuring and managing software on PC and mobile devices, networking and security.
CompTIA A+ 220-901 measures candidate’s knowledge of various hardware, including PC and mobile devices, networking, troubleshooting, connectivity and safety, customer support.

CompTIA A+ 220-902 oversees test-takers skills in configuring operating systems like Windows, iOS, Android, Apple OS X and Linux. It also accesses security, cloud computing and operations topics, customer support.

 

Exams Preparation
