The final hours before PTE Academic should be devoted to knowing the correct appointment and completing the tasks accurately—not to learning an outdated examination outline. Pearson updated PTE Academic and PTE Academic UKVI after August 7, 2025 by adding two speaking-related task types: Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation. The official PTE update explains that the broader three-part organization remains, but these tasks belong in current preparation.

PTE Academic is a computer-delivered test taken at an authorized test center, not an at-home test for ordinary candidates. Pearson’s test information describes its 10–90 score scale and test-center delivery. Before the appointment, use the myPTE booking details and current test-taker rules for the accepted identification, arrival time, personal items, and any special arrangements.

Rehearse the tasks added in 2025

Summarize Group Discussion requires listening to multiple speakers, identifying their key points, and producing a coherent summary. The useful skill is synthesis: explain who agreed, what differed, and which conclusion emerged without inventing details. Practice with legitimate recordings that contain more than one viewpoint.

Respond to a Situation asks for spoken communication appropriate to a particular scenario. Strong responses answer the actual request, maintain a suitable tone, and organize information clearly. Rote templates can miss the context or sound unnatural. Pearson’s current resources should take precedence over a prep video filmed before the new tasks were introduced.

Understand security and microphone procedures

The test center may check identification and follow security procedures, including rules for belongings and monitoring. Confirm the exact instructions beforehand; procedures can differ by location and may change. The speaking portion is recorded through the testing equipment, so practice speaking at a steady natural volume rather than shouting or whispering. Avoid moving equipment without an invigilator’s direction.

A sensible final rehearsal should cover transitions between speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Spend less time trying to predict “repeat questions” and more time understanding what each task asks you to demonstrate. Using memorized material that does not fit a prompt can undermine communication quality.

Put results and sending rules on the calendar

Pearson says results are typically available within two business days, although some cases can take longer, up to around five business days in its guidance. The official scoring help explains how to check delayed results. Do not book the last possible date before an institutional deadline on the assumption that every score is delivered immediately.

PTE Academic scores can be shared electronically with receiving institutions under the provider’s process. Verify which version is accepted for a particular university, professional registration, or visa purpose. PTE Academic and PTE Academic UKVI are not interchangeable for every application simply because they share some question types.

Interpret the score in context

An overall score by itself does not reveal which communication skill needs work. Read the individual skills on the report and compare them with the exact institutional thresholds. If a program requires a specific speaking score, a satisfactory overall result may not meet that separate condition.

After test day, save the score report, follow the official electronic-sharing method, and confirm receipt with the organization that needs it. Preparation ends when the correct institution receives an acceptable result, not merely when the test-taker sees a number in the myPTE account.
