An LSAT practice test should resemble the LSAT the candidate will actually sit, not the version a friend took several years earlier. Starting in August 2024, Analytical Reasoning\u2014often called Logic Games\u2014was removed from the scored multiple-choice exam. Someone repeatedly timing old Logic Games sections may be developing general reasoning ability, but those drills no longer directly reflect the tested sections of the current LSAT.<\/p>\n

Choose practice that matches the current format<\/h3>\n

The LSAC exam specifications<\/a> describe four 35-minute multiple-choice sections: two scored Logical Reasoning, one scored Reading Comprehension, and one unscored variable section. There is a ten-minute intermission between the second and third sections. LSAT Argumentative Writing is a distinct assessment requirement and is not a fifth timed multiple-choice section.<\/p>\n

Use official LSAT PrepTests designed for the post-August-2024 format. LSAC’s LawHub official practice tests<\/a> reproduce the interactive test environment and question types. Historic books and older prep sets still have potential analytical value, but a modern readiness score should come from comparable current-form material.<\/p>\n

Establish one diagnostic before setting the pace<\/h3>\n

Start with a complete official test under reasonable timed conditions. Record the number of questions attempted in each section, the types guessed, and any misunderstanding of the interface. Avoid spending the first week studying a fixed list of online \u201ctricks\u201d without finding out whether weakness lies in formal reasoning, passage structure or pacing.<\/p>\n

After the test, review logical reasoning errors by argument function: identifying a conclusion, recognizing a necessary assumption, testing an inference, or detecting a flaw. For Reading Comprehension, track whether the missed question depended on a specific passage detail, the author’s purpose, the relationship between views or an inference that went beyond the text.<\/p>\n

Understand the cost of over-reviewing one question<\/h3>\n

Every 35-minute section forces allocation decisions. A student may spend several minutes trying to rescue an unusually difficult item and then rush easier ones. Timed practice should include recognizing that tradeoff and making an informed move forward. Do not memorize a single number of seconds per question as a rigid rule; passages and argument structures differ.<\/p>\n

On review, recreate the reasoning under no timer and compare it with the rushed version. If an answer was wrong due to a misread logical quantifier, more formal reasoning practice may be useful. If the same problem is solved accurately when untimed but repeatedly missed under pressure, pacing and response selection need more attention than content memorization.<\/p>\n

Separate test rehearsal from official administrative policies<\/h3>\n

For 2026\u20132027 LSAT administrations, LSAC is moving the multiple-choice exam primarily to test centers, with limited remote exceptions. Check the current appointment, accommodations approval and required environment rather than assuming that a private remote mock perfectly matches test day. A candidate with approved accommodations should practice under those specific conditions where possible. Requesting an accommodation and being approved for it are separate steps. An unofficial website’s timing advice must not override LSAC instructions for the candidate’s administration.<\/p>\n

Schedule feedback cycles, not endless full tests<\/h3>\n

A useful cycle is a baseline full test, several days of targeted practice for a persistent error type, and another official timed test to examine transfer. Keep the answer analysis and section-level notes. If the only outcome of a practice test is a score, the exercise has not yet produced a learning plan.<\/p>\n

Strong LSAT preparation means understanding the tested reasoning and selecting answers deliberately under time pressure.
