I completed my exam last friday got 361.

I studied using:
- CBT Nuggets http://www.cbtnuggets.com/it-training-videos/series/vmware-virtualization-vcp-vsphere-5
- vSphereKing.271q - not too many questions from here, however the questions in this dump point you in the right direction as to what you could be thinking when answering other questions of the same kind.
- get a LOT of hand's on experience with the product you will need it. If you are vSphere 4 certified and have about 6 months experience with the product you should be fine.
- read thru vmware's documentation to find out more info about topics from the dump and the cbt nuggets.
- read this page posted previously by one of the guys in this thread http://cosonok.blogspot.com/2011/10/vcp510-vcp-on-vsphere-5-exam-cram-notes.html.

With my experience if I had to take it again I would drop the nuggets, read the link above, and review the dump, now only do this if you have a lot of experience with VMware if not go thru the nuggets.

@ vpxuser. That answer would be B & C I beleive. It cant be D as the automation level is fully automatice which is th eleast conservative setting there is. A is also not a correct choice vMotion can be done at most product levels. There is no "vMotion license" as it were as well.

Guys . took the exam today and passed with 388. Check out the new dumps from Actual tests as pointd by Jack Johnson the link is given below

http://s000.tinyupload.com/download.php?file_id=01123519144633368160&t=0112351914463336816002043

Almost all new questions were from this dump. I just had three new questions which was new and not part of this dump. However, watch out for the correct answers as there are quite a few questions which we think have correct answers as per dumps but is does not. So cross verify each and every answer and be sure about it.

Out of the three new questions, two were exhibits and the other one is given below

Two ESXi hosts are configured as part of DRS cluster. One ESXi host operates at 95% of its resources while the other ESXi host is operating at 52% of its resources. The DRS automation level has been set for Fully Automated. It has been noticed that none of the virtual machines are migrated (load balanced) from the resource constrained host to the other host.
What could be the reason? (Choose Two)
A) Vmotion license expired.
B) Insufficient resources available to migrate VMs to the other host.
C) The ESXi host on which resource is available has CPU imcompatibility with guest OS.
D) The Automation level set is too conservative.

I thinks the answers are BD

took the exam today and passed with 350 my vcp 4 score was 456.

however, i strongly recommend not to rely on the vcp5 dump. had only about 5-7 questions from it and mock exam.

all the other questions are either reworded and altered from vcp4 or completely new.

as the other users stated, no min max questions, only some port and requirement q

mostly HA/DRS, ressource pool, update manager, data recovery and many networking questions.a lot of scenario q, u have this and what can u or cant u do when this and that happens.

its really tough, you will fail when u rely your knowledge solely upon the dumps, and forget the vcp5 dump.

my recommendation is, know the product, do the vcp4 dumps AND UNDERSTAND THE ANSWERS without the min max questions and the qs which are not applicable to esxi5 (like all the service console things), and have a look into the vcp5 dump and do the mock exam.

and DO NOT just memorize all the answers to the vcp qs as vmware has reworded and put all the qs into another context!

good luck to all, im happy that im done with it.

Guys,

I passed today, way below 400 (my mark of VCP 4 was like 430), I was obviously uneasy before the exam.and what I can say after like 3 months of preparation (TrainSignal, CBT Nuggets, Mastering vSphere 5) and reading blog after blog after blog about VCP 5, is that I barely made it : )

I have never given an exam without a trusted dump, perhaps because I was always lagging on my certs.now this being so new, cost a lot of effort.

Do this dumps but only as a focus tool, I mean trying to learn whats behind the question, there were very very few real questions like : OK I´ve seen this one and it´s that answer.

But there were many questions that were similar in concepts, I obv missed a lot of them according to my score : )

Well, Good luck to all, and of course thanks vSphere KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you´re the man!!!

Question : Under which condition will vCenter Server communicate directly with a vSphere HA slave?
A. When distributing the host compatibility list
B. When an update is needed for the list of powered on VMs
C. When powering on FT secondary VM
D. When distributing cluster configuration

The answer is C not D

from powerpoint vSphere 5 What New High Availability technical training presentation:
vCenter may communicate to the Slaves in certain situations, such as:
Scanning for a existing Master
If the Master states that it cannot reach a Slave. In this case, vCenter will try to contact the Slave to determine why.
When powering on a FT Secondary VM
When host is reported isolated or partitioned.

Question: An administrator is applying patches to a batch of ESXi 5.x host in an under-allocated HA/DRS cluster. An attempt is made to place the host into maintence mode, but he progress has stalled at 2%. DRS are configured as shown in the exhibit. Of the four choise below, two would effectively resolve this issue. Which two steps could be taken to correct the problem? (Choose two.)
A. Manually migrates any running virtual machines to another host
B. Set the cluster to Fully Automated
C. Disable HA Monitoring to allo Maintenance Mode to proceed
D. Set the cluster migration threshold to Aggressive

The good answer : AB

When maintenance mode stale to 2% is because can't migrate vm. So in the exhibit the automation level is in manual mode. B automated vmotion of vm.A you can migrate manualy to solve this. D no effect because maintenance mode is include in conservative migration threshold. See DRS migration threshould

PASSED - 370+

Legitimately studied this for 1 Evening and 3hrs before the test. the other times I was high. and maybe 10-15mins every other day since this .vce came out.

60-70 Questions from this VCE or some variation of this. bout 10 new questions and 5 from older 410 VCE's. ~10-20Qs in the VCE are either Incorrect or Corrected in the Reason.

If you have taken the 410 recently it's very familiar.

HOW TO STUDY using .VCE

1. READ the question.
2. THINK
3. Answer
4. Check the Answer.
5. GOOGLE WHY.
Move on to the next question But only after you answered WHY is that the answer.

If you took the 410 it is very familiar however some of the questions are worded differently and have different answers then before.

Hi, i've passed too the VCP510 exam today. it was tough one because it goes in details but if you have hands on experience and have studied, you should be able to do it.
i've used vphereprep 450 (10 jan) and this one for studying. the 450q have only 40% of right questions but like BadgerVCP said, just using preptest is not enough, you have to search to fully undestand.
don't waiste too much time with max/min.
good luck to all !

@vsphereking and other contributors,
Thanks for all the work on this. I passed the 510 exam today and I would say that 40% of the questions were in this dump (either exact or re-worded). Other questions were found throughout various comments of 510 dumps on this site.
For studying, I did the following:
Read all the courseware for the vSphere 5: ICM course
Completed all the labs
Built 2-3 different vSphere 5 lab environments
Installed ALL optional components
Read Troubleshooting and other whitepapers
Read Scott Lowe's Mastering vSphere 5
Read through all vSphere 5 documentation
I only ran through the dump once and I used each question as a study item. If I could answer it, I did. If I couldn't, I researched the question on the vSphere 5 documentation website and in my lab environment.
It is not an impossible test, but it does require hands-on experience. I have worked with virtualization for around 7 years, teach vSphere 4/5 courses, and manage a small (8 hosts/100 VMs) vSphere infrastructure.
Good Luck to all!

I believe its a Vmware policy, they will keep changing the test until 28 February. Because they don't wont people to upgrade their certificate by taking just the exam, they want you to take the VCP5 class for $3000.
After the end of February the test will be stable.
Good luck for all.

bobby, look through my earlier post where I mentioned your blog entries. Also, I used VMware workstation v.8 to create my lab. I used my old pc - Intel quad-core, 8GB RAM - nothing really special. I will say that if this is your first attempt at a VCP certification I recommend getting the Trainsignal vSphere 5 course. It will show you what you need to set up a lab, set up a Openfiler VSA, and goes over most of what you will need to pass the exam.

Preparation for exam: To be honest I didn't read all white papers mentioned in blueprint, just selectively. However I read VMware vSphere Install, Configure, Manage Student Manual. I used this dump as guide to exam making sure that I understand all answers. (thanks to vsphereking for his work!). I found vsphere 5 documentation notes from vreference.com to be great in helping to prepare for exam if you already have experience with vsphere. I set up a small lab to review some features but not all because I didn't have a time for it :), however I read a lot about features I didn't use in my job.

My background: I have more than 2 years experience with vsphere/vmware. However I don't use all features of the product in my job. I studied and passed VCP4 2 years ago. All that helped me to pass exam.

Overall I think exam was not easy, but if you have a good experience with vsphere it shouldn't be difficult to pass the exam. (after some preparation)

SATHISH, most of the questions have multiple answers. A lot of "pick two" or "pick three" answer questions. I am guessing that you get partial credit for these questions if you get part of them right, so giving an exact number of questions to get correct to pass the exam is difficult to say.

bobby, I saw all 10 of the questions you posted except for number 5. Also the list of topics you posted after that were pretty close to what I saw. However, there were a lot of questions that I only got because of setting up a lab and installing most of the add on applications (VUM, VDR, etc.)

Took exam today passed with a 356. I used Vsphereking's latest dump (v 10.5 ) and it still only has about 10-15 questions on it. I studied pretty hard and still found the exam difficult. Nearly no min/max questions. Mostly questions that would require experience with vsphere5 and all it's accompanying programs to answer. I did see some questions that I remembered for the VCP4 exam.
Bottom line is if you want to pass this exam, set up a lab and study hard.

NO, the upload thaqt "hu" is probably talking about is "VMware certkey VCP-510 v2011-01-06 by Pandit 441q.vce", but everyone says that one is not valid, yet continually gets uploaded. The one posted above is the latest from vSphereKing (10.5) as of this date. Between this and the CBTs that are available (simply google for them) we'll probably be in good shape. Just study and know the material.
