This dump was useful for me at 80%, there were some questions about devian packages I wasn't familiar with. However, I'd recommend you to also read at least these two books:
ISBN 978-0-470-40483-6 [English Version] [By googling it you'll find some links for the digital version]
ISBN 978-2-7460-5403-5 [Spanish Version] [I had no luck to find any digital version of this one, therefore I bought the hardcover to be sent from Spain to Costa Rica - almost 3 weeks to get my hands on it]
In answering to John's concern, in my case most of the blank questions were similar to the ones you see in this dump, may be 3 new ones or so, but sill, make sure you've memorized very well the full paths of the most important /etc and /proc configuration files.
Saying good bye from Costa Rica, pura vida everyone!

Kancelas,
Curious two people from Spain speaking in English :-)
Basic knowledge of Linux means things like use of grep, vi/vim, cat, redirect of standard output and standard error, install and manage both Debian and Red Hat packages, and so on.
In 101 exam, there are no questions about network, nor X system, advanced features, kernel compilation, hardware configuration..all of those themes are for 102 and level 2.
If you read one of the recommended books (Linux Professional
Institute Certification Study Guide Second Edition for example) and study this dump, you will pass the exam.

Wtf? Kernel compiling? Raid commands? In 101 exam? Wireless network? None of them are part of the contents of 101 exam. At least, in the official web page of LPI doesn't appear any of them as part of the objetives. Neither in the books for preparation. Study the command unset, grep, fgrep, grub vs grub2.
17 new questions, some of then:
1 - About command Kill;
2 - About send messages to users to logged in users (I think, it´s wall);
3 - Function of sticky bit (means that only the file owner and the superuser may remove files from that directory.);
4 - Changes grub legacy to grub2 (see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275)
5 - grep -f or fgrep: searches files for one or more pattern arguments. It does not use regular expressions; instead, it does direct string comparison to find matching lines of text in the input;
6 - Command to update the database of command locate (updatedb)
7 - Command Find and ID;
8 - Option to send the cursor to the beginning of the blank line (o);

there were also about three questions that's not in the dump. All in all, very valid dump!
Also asked was the difference between the GRUB legacy and GRUB 2;
There was a kernel question but I forgot; Working with Linux for years, this was the first time I heard of that question !!!

Good Luck to all of you.
THKS

Curious two people from Spain speaking in English :-)
Basic knowledge of Linux means things like use of grep, vi/vim, cat, redirect of standard output and standard error, install and manage both Debian and Red Hat packages, and so on.
In 101 exam, there are no questions about network, nor X system, advanced features, kernel compilation, hardware configuration..all of those themes are for 102 and level 2.
If you read one of the recommended books (Linux Professional
Institute Certification Study Guide Second Edition for example) and study this dump, you will pass the exam.
what you mean when you speak of knowledge of basic linux?
any body who has got a PDF books for this course and also for exam 102, please send to me on chrimat_05@yahoo.com, I have CBT videos, but need books to well prepare for the exam!
your effort will be much appreciated!!
thanks
The Dump is Valid.. Passed with a score of 730.
some 15 - 20 questions were not from Dumps.These Dumps have few wrong answers..please be careful there..
Other wise overall, its good for scoring passing marks...
Thxs Chwena...
Need to prepare for 102 now.....
All the best for certification takers!!!!
Very affordable studing with this dump and some knowledge about linux basics.
Now, for the 102 :-)
Study basic Linux and the last three dumps and you're gonna be fine... :-)
the other one is about the reverse search key command in vi
cant remember the rest.
15 Quesions are new.
You should study basic about linux.
I have the exam next friday, and none of these things appears in the prep material (official) that I have for preparing the 101.
Thanks again
Doesn't have questions about kernel and modules in this first exam, only 201 and 202, but have questions about compiling program with source code, and dpkg and rpm, If you study this vce and nephilim is enough to you pass in this firt test.
Anybody who has taken this exam recently could tell me if has been asked about questions of compiling code as make, make install, configure and so on? I ask this because in the VCE exams I'm seeing that there are some questions about it, but in the official page of LPI don´t appear this as an objetive for LPI 101 or 102, nor in the books that I'm studing tells anything about it. So, are there questions about it in the ACTUAL exam?
Thanks.
About 15 new questions, like Wilson.
Thks !
seven questions incorrects.
I think there were about fifteen new questions, great dumps.
I studied this nephilim, chwena, and stomy.
Now I need to study to 102 exam.
see ya
I did the test yesterday, with 590 passive, only by studying this site.
The 117-101 has more different issues, this site needs to atualiar, it has something new.
Good luck!
CERTIFICATION IN A NUTSHELL, I will know you take the Linux +, and learn from it?
Thanks in advance for answers!
