Postby Megster_22 » Wed Oct 14, 2009 6:50 am

Unfortunatly Microsoft has discontiuned both the wallet cards and welcome letters as from June 30th 2009 Microsoft are supposed to be replacing the wallet cards with a Virtual Business Card but this is delayed as it was supposed to be available from August then they announced sometime in september but as of now it is still not available I passed my MCSA on 25th of june and managed to order my welcome kit with the MCP/MCSA wallet card but when i passed my MCTS and MCSA security exam in July i didnt get the wallet card for these and i had to pay for the certificates

Thanks for this thread, you just saved me 10 $! I almost ordered my cert, but then remembered to check here if a wallet card comes in package too.

Are wallet cards also discontinued for new certifications, eg. MCITP Server Administrator?

Wtf is "Virtual Business Card" ???

Virtual Business Cards

Postby Megster_22 » Wed Oct 21, 2009 1:31 pm

The Virtual Business Cards is a way of replacing the wallet cards its a web based template maker for email and printing you can customize the card to your liking and your microsoft credentials will be displayed alongside avatars which are custom background templates of your choice in design

Check out these sites for more info

Regarding MCITP this applies too with the VBC they are no longer producing wallet cards the only exceptions as far as I know are the MCT and MVP Award credentials

10x for the info!

It looks nice, but it's just too virtual for my taste. It would be great if you could make your VBC and then order it in PLASTIC from that site. I would pay 10$ for that in a snap!

Printing

Postby Megster_22 » Thu Oct 22, 2009 8:15 pm

You may be able to find a local printers that can print onto pvc id cards they are the same size as the wallet cards we have 1 at work so when this becomes available I will print mine onto this.

I just hope the size matches as business card size is differant to credit card size and the other concern is that american business card size is differant to uk size with any luck just like the digital certificates you can choose which size you prefer

I have heard the VBC's have encryption so it makes forgery very difficult as i think digital cerificates can't be trusted and besides there are websites where you can pay to have certificates without doing the exams yourself but these are illegal and if caught using them you will have your credentials taken from you and be banned from IT exams so it could end your career

I did my exams honestly with hard work lots of hands experiance both at home in virtual server environments and at work over 3 years to get my MCSA brain dumps are illegal and not worth it at all.

Virtual Business Cards Update

Postby Megster_22 » Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:50 am

After 2 months of no updates from Microsoft they have finally given us a launch date for the Virtual Business Cards on 8th December they have made this a promise so we will see.

They are saying on the site that this is not a replacement for the wallet card which is confusing as when you look on the MCP website regarding ordering of certificates for printing in the FAQ section regarding the whereabouts of the wallet cards and I quote:

"Q. Can I get my Wallet Card and Welcome Letters downloaded?

A. Coming soon will be a new virtual business card to replace the MCP Wallet Card. This card will have customizable templates and could be downloaded to print. The welcome letters have been discontinued."

They also mention that you will not be able to print them for the moment so make your opinion of what the VBC is about then because clearly not even Microsoft know.

They also mention on the website that the wallet cards might return as a chargeable print order like the certificates I am only quoting Microsoft here so please don’t ask if or when it’s happening that’s all I know if I hear anything I will post another reply.

Just thought I would update you guys as I know there are lots of MCP's out there who are frustrated with the discontinued cards I am one of them they are great instant way of proving your credentials after all comptia and cisco still have them and cisco already have virtual business cards as well.

Check the site below for more info

Microsoft is going green, including the wallet cards

Postby slipdipidis » Wed Nov 25, 2009 12:26 am

The reason they stopped is not to be cheap... they can do that anytime anyway... if you ask them, they don't mind explaining that part of Microsoft's attempt to reduce carbon emmissions is to pull the Welcome Kit altogether, this includes the wallet card and welcome folder with certificate. You can print the certificate online and in early 2010, you will have the opportunity to print your own MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCTS MCT, Partner or MCITP business cards.
You can always tell who's a paper tiger and who actually knows what they're doing. Just be patient, the paper tigers are on their way out as soon as they arrive.

VBC Have Launched

Postby Megster_22 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 7:03 pm

Finally Microsoft have released the Virtual Buisiness Cards however they have not made it publc knowledge to all mcp's only MCT's but all MCP's can access this new benefit

to get started go to www.mcpvirtualbusinesscard.com

Log on using your normal logon for the MCP login site to access your setup you need to enter a name for the card and choose a theme then you can customize the card with your work details and personal details if you wish be aware that when you publish the info to the website anybody can see it so be careful with your personal info

when pulished you are given links for several ways of publishing your card and profile page the profile page is a document about you. You can copy and paste your CV on or describe what you do this can have great benefits if used properly

I publish my interactive version of mine here https://www.mcpvirtualbusinesscard.com/ ... activecard note that you can switch back and forth between credentials and click on the more info link to see my profile about me on that page when creating the card you can add your MCP transcript as well

Microsoft are making the availability public as of next month they did this to give people who read the Born to Learn blogs as I do a chance for a sneak preview

It only went live last night there have been a few issues with MCITP credentials not displaying correctly so if this happens to you dont despair they are aware of the issue and should have it fixed in the next 2 weeks if you go onto my card and look at my certifications you will see the MCTS logo is a bit distorted this is what i am talking about the MCP logos appear normal
