Just took 83-640 today and passed with flying colors.

950/1000

Microsoft.Braindump.70-640.v2009-01-30.by.breeze1974.126q.vce was right on the money.

The test was 2 labs (65 minutes ea.) and 30 questions (60 minutes).
I was done in less than an hour and only took that long because I was careful with the lab.

The 2 labs were broken down into about 8 or 9 tasks per lab to be completed on a virtual server. Each task was a separate configuration change. When you complete the tasks, you click DONE and it ends the lab. Then you move onto the next lab.

I have to run back out, but will post which tasks were covered later.

Moving onto 70-646 next....

U.S.

The 2 labs consisted of the following tasks (in no particular order):

1. Enable the "Postal Code" attribute to replicate to all Global Catalog Servers.
2. Change the GPO to not display the Last User Name
3. Enable Global Catalog on a DC
4. Raise the Functional Level of a domain to Windows 2008
5. Add a Task to the event viewer with ID: 7036
6. Configure DNS Debugging
7. Change the cost of the DEFAULTIPSITELINK to 50
8. Configure a New Zone Delegation in DNS
9. Change the GPO Security Filter to include the group xxxxxxx.
10. Change the GPO Password History to 12
11. Enable Universal Group Caching.
12. Pre-Create an RODC in a branch site.
13. Apply the Read & Enroll Permission to the EFSRecovery Cert for xxxx Group.
14. Change the description of 12 users in the SalesOU to "xxxxxxxx"

I marked off these from my notebook as soon as I got back to my car after the test yesterday. I recall there being 7 or 8 tasks in each lab, so I'm missing a few. But nothing difficult.

**the details on how to do each of these are in the previous pages so I'm not going to re-post it.

Certified

Postby dreamcast » Thu Sep 03, 2009 1:00 am

Passed (US) 900/1000 - 9/1/09
Read the MCITP AD 70-640 Sybex book
Microsoft.CertifyMe.70-640.v6.0.by.Certblast.84q.vce
Created 2 DC's + 1 RODC in VMworkstation for Lab work and testing

The labs flow like this.

It launches LAB1 - you then have a sliding window pane on the right (it can be minimized and maximized at anytime to go back and forth for review)
Says -
"Please do the following tasks in any order"
1.
2.
3.
etc.

Once you complete what you can you click "Done"

LAB1 ends, then it loads the LAB2 exactly the same.

Following the completion of the lab it loads up the standard multiple choice questions.

If you have used ADUC, DNS, MMC's etc, then you should be fine. The test really wants to know if have any experience using the tools.
(The help menu is available inside the lab server, but it only goes so far)

Good luck everyone!

@ Bullfish

Were most of the lab simulation questions the same as what everyone else had been through in this thread or were they any that stood out?

Hi Bullfish

So how many number of tasks for the labs appearing on your 83-640 exam that day? What is the time given for the labs? Any help command available for the labs?

You get 65 minutes per lab.

The lab is a fully functioning Windows 2008 Server, you can use the build in windows help files.

All that lacks is internet access.
ITIL-F / MCAD / MCDBA / MCDST / MCITP (9) / MCPD (3) / MCSD / MCSE+M+S / MCTS (18) / CCIP / CCNP / CCSA / Linux+ / C|EH / JNCIA (5) / JNCIS (4) / JNCIP / VCP VI5 / CCA

Next to do : 70-685

Thanks for the reply but what about the number of tasks that appears in each lab? So to complete the tasks you can use any methods, as in GUI or command based? Also, were the labs slow or unstable when using it?

You get 7 or 8 tasks to perform in each lab.

You can use any method available to solve the task, GUI or command line.

The labs were pretty stable and responsive.
