In response to Sherri below me, for anyone looking to know the answer:
you've done the legwork finding out the increment is 16. What I usually do is wither use binary AND to get the answer...or the longer winded method:
1. Divide the increment by the important bits in question(i.e. 16/160 = 10 if answer has remainder just drop it)
2. Then take the answer I got and multiply it with the the increment to get the subnet the IP address is in. 16*10=160 (so 10.1.160.0/20)
3. match this range (10.1.160.1 - 10.1.175.254) to the answers given, which leaves us with ACD as the answers
Yes, this is a whole lot of wording, but when I see that this will be faster than doing a binary AND operation I'll use it. In most cases it's just simplest to use binary ANDing to get the subnet, especially using a dry erase sheet/board and marker to do these subnetting questions

Hi everyone, I'm using the dumps in the manner they were meant but I'm having trouble understanding how to quickly determine the answer for the following subnet question in this dump. The question is:
Which IP addresses are valid for hosts belonging to the 10.1.160.0/20 subnet...Choose 3
I understand why option E cannot be correct because it is the network but how can I quickly compute the correct answers when the increment is 16? What am I missing to quickly solve this on a test? I had no problems getting the other subnet questions correct so I know my method is correct. Puzzled

This question is not all there
The FastEthernet0/0 interface on R1 goes down. In which two ways will the routers in thisnetwork respond to this change? (Choose two.)
A. All routers will reference their topology database to determine if any backup routes to the192.168.1.0 network are known.
B. Routers R2 and R3 mark the route as inaccessible and will not accept any further routingupdates from R1 until their hold-down timers expire.
C. Because of the split-horizon rule, router R2 will be prevented from sending erroneousinformation to R1 about connectivity to the 192.168.1.0 network.
D. When router R2 learns from R1 that the link to the 192.168.1.0 network has been lost, R2 willrespond by sending a route back to R1 with an infinite metric to the 192.168.1.0 network.
E. R1 will send LSAs to R2 and R3 informing them of this change, and then all routers will sendperiodic updates at an increased rate until the network again converges.

@Dudeman. I agree completely on people just memorizing the answers and not having a clue about the concepts. You can identify them pretty easy based on the questions they ask in the comments. The cert people that just memorize answers get eliminiated pretty quickly when interviewed (in cases where IT people conduct the interview)

In this dump there are a few issues i saw 1 question with a picture that was 100% unrelated to the picture. and question number 44 asks refer to the exibut the pc has a nic set for 100 mb half dublex. The pic shows the switch set for full duplex 100mb and the correct answere is that the switch is set to fullduplex. The correct answere is not available as a selection. The correct answere should be either there is a duplex mismatch causing intermitant connectivity issues or the pc nic should be set for 100mb full duplex.

If you fail (which i did on my first attempt before i really used these 737 needed 804 ) you have to wait 5 days. I dont get why there is so much discussion of this but its a mere 5 days not 180. If you pass you would have to wait 180 days to take this test again. But i dont know why you would unless you worked for a company that was simply collecting info about the test like say for these dumps. One should never simply use these dumps as a way to pass it is a quick and dirty method but lets all be professional and not wreck the cert itself by not knowing and understanding networking theroy. If people just get certified and dont know the theory it makes the cert worthless.

Passed 960/1000. This file is still very valid. Use this file only as a study guide, some questions slightly tweaked. Do the labs on Cisco's website, create some GNA3 labs, watch CBT Nuggets (Jeremy is great). Couple of new questions on WAN technologies including which one is which out of Frame Relay, Circuit Switched etc and how they match up. If you know your sub-netting and can see /28 and go..yip that's subnet mask of 240 in the 4th octet and a increment of 16 you'll be fine. Practice practice practice and you'll ace it. I would say that 9tut.com and this dump have 80% of the questions. So if you can't pass you probably don't deserve to pass. I was getting 90% on my first time through these questions. 97% the second and last time. Hope that clears it up for some of you. :)
